Research Fellow in The Health & Occupation Research Network (THOR)

Job reference: BMH-019840

An estimated 1.4 million workers in the UK suffer from work-related ill-health. This position provides an exciting opportunity to manage The Health & Occupation Research network (THOR) which aims to monitor trends in occupational disease in the UK and Ireland and to identify new causes of occupational ill-health.

Currently four schemes are in operation in THOR in the UK and in the Republic of Ireland (ROI). These schemes are partly funded by the Health and Safety Executive in the UK and the Health and Safety Authority in the ROI. We collaborate with over 1000 physicians from various specialties across the UK and ROI who provide data on occupational disease. Data from THOR are unique within the UK and ROI and are extensively used to inform policy and to evaluate the effectiveness of policy interventions. Results of this project have been reported in a large volume of peer-reviewed publications.

We seek a Research Fellow for THOR working closely with the academic and support staff, participating physicians and the funding bodies. You will also write and contribute to scientific publications and develop further research opportunities.
