The Role
The Section Head is responsible for the leadership and management of the Ergonomics and Human Factors research team. Working within, and as a key strategic leader, within the Research team you will provide clarity of purpose, strategic and operational vision for your team and the business.  You will lead the development and delivery of research proposals, project delivery and lead the exploration of consultancy science into practice.

  • Effectively lead a number of smaller projects or one large project, delivering on budget and time or to timescale agreed with client
  • Manage, involve and mentor staff within projects, including in the writing of research proposals and reports
  • Proven track record in taking the initiative to lead and tackle complex problems within own area of research division as well as at divisional level, ensuring a favourable outcome
  • Lead the organisation’s research development activities in a relevant area of expertise, including developing ideas, leading strategic meetings and meeting with clients.  This will include regular travel both nationally and internationally as required
  • Regularly prepare high quality research proposals for large projects, with a track record of success in winning new research
  • Actively participate in research strategy meetings within the Section, and organisation as a whole, with a track record of successful ideas
  • Actively participate in high-level consultancy work to help solve complex problems or to inform the Court in a legal case
  • Regularly present and attend scientific conferences / networking events ultimately showcasing the organisations brand credentials as well as continuously developing, and expanding, scientific expertise
