Gerald is an experienced exposure scientist with more than 10 years of experience in assessing risks associated with substances, mixtures, and articles. He currently works as a Regulatory Officer at ECHA, where he is working on the development of Chesar, developing guidance in respect to exposure assessment and similar topics.  Previously, he worked at DuPont where he was responsible for global exposure and risk assessments, and occupational and environmental monitoring studies. Prior relevant employment includes positions at Vitis Regulatory and Shell, where he worked on the exposure and risk assessment of siloxanes and silicones, solvents, and petrochemicals.

Gerald has a PhD in Nanotoxicology from ETH Zurich. In addition to his PhD, he obtained other academic achievements such as a Swiss Safety Engineer Certification from ETH Zurich, a MSc in Health and the Environment from Cranfield University and a MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Technical University of Graz.
