Short biography: 

Susana Viegas is a professor and researcher at NOVA National School of Public Health and member of the Comprehensive Health Research Centre. She has a PhD in Public Health, Masters in Toxicology and Occupational Health and a bachelor on Environmental Health. She is a European Registered Toxicologist. Susana Viegas lectures on Environmental and Occupational Health and coordinates several research projects on environmental determinants of health, exposure assessment and risk assessment. She is a member of the European Chemicals Agency Committee for Risk Assessment and of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency in the topic of Environment & health-chemicals. Since 2021, she has been collaborating as a visiting scientist with the Monographs Programme of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, World Health Organization. Prof. Viegas is also a member of the Technical Advisory Group on Occupational Burden of Disease Estimation of World Health Organization. She has authored and co-authored more than 120 scientific publications and has been included in the world’s top 2% scientists list by Stanford University (2022).
