The Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA), Division 4 Hazardous Substances and Biological Agents, in Dortmund, Germany have an opportunity for a PhD Student (Job description: Doktorand / Doktorandin).
The fields of expertise for this project are in the remit of Exposure Science, Regulatory Affairs, Analytical Chemistry and Statistics
Desired skills and experience
· Successfully completed academic studies (Master / University Diploma) in physics, chemistry, process engineering, computer science, statistics, geoinformatics, environmental or climate sciences or related disciplines
· Special interest in interdisciplinary cooperation in a successful team of scientists
· Preferably first experiences in conducting scientific studies
· Interest in the model estimation of exposure to chemicals in the workplace
· Preferably experience with statistical analysis using software for the statistical evaluation of larger amounts of data
· Goal-oriented and systematic approach to the research task and related open questions
· Preferably first experiences with the publication of scientific findings
· Team-oriented work skills with high personal responsibility in an interdisciplinary research group
· Very good German and English language skills in spoken and written
Job Description
o scientifically-based further development of model approaches for exposure estimation for activities involving hazardous substances at the workplace based on the existing BAuA exposure models EMKG Expo-Tool and SprayExpo
o Conduct of a research project on model approaches of the exposure estimation against hazardous substances at the workplace (project F 2467)
o Systematic appraisal (data analysis) of results of relevant BAuA projects and literature
o Statistical evaluation of measured data
o Methodological development of the estimation of dermal exposure taking into account the results of recent BAuA projects
o Conception and realization of the cooperation with external partners, as partial aspects of the model development are outsourced
o The research results are published in the form of peer-reviewed publications and presented at national and international conferences
