The Role
This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced ergonomist or human factors specialist to work on a variety of projects and to lead on their own research as follows:  

  • Work and manage research projects involving quantitative and qualitative ergonomic methods and working with all members of the team, contributing to both research and consultancy activities. This will include regular travel both nationally and internationally as required.
  • The successful applicant will fulfil a significant role in providing and promoting ergonomics consultancy work (including expert witness activities) and in developing and fulfilling research capabilities and commitments.
  • Carry out ergonomics-related research and provides a consultancy service to a range of industrial and commercial clients.
  • Consultancy services range from providing routine DSE assessments for office workers to in-depth evaluations of workplaces and working practices (and recommendations for improvement) for industrial clients.
  • Regularly present and attend scientific conferences / networking events ultimately showcasing the organisations brand credentials as well as continuously developing, and expanding, scientific expertise
  • In addition to ergonomics and human factors activities, you would also be involved with other research teams in a variety of studies relating to wider occupational and environmental health and safety concerns.

Your Skills
As a Senior Ergonomist, in a key role for the business, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:

  • First degree in a relevant science or engineering field (course accredited by the CIEHF)
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors
  • Experience of working in a research or consultancy environment
  • Able to make well-judged decisions on complex issues
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Customer focused and able to manage communication with customers
  • Organised and strong interpersonal skills
