This Domain of Expertise provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of environmental chemistry and (eco)toxicology that underpin exposure and risk assessment. Participants will examine how chemical and physical stressors interact with biological systems, including processes of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination within organisms. The session also explores the environmental fate, transport, and transformation of stressors, and introduces core concepts in hazard identification, hazard assessment, and the derivation of limit and threshold values.
